Psychological Assessment

What to Expect Every Step of the Way...

A psychological test intake session is the initial meeting where a we gather essential background information to guide the selection and interpretation of psychological assessments. During this session, we review your presenting concerns, relevant history, medical and psychiatric background, developmental or educational factors, and any previous evaluations. We also explains the purpose of testing, what the process will look like, discusses confidentiality and consent, and clarifies the client’s goals. This conversation helps ensure that the chosen tests are appropriate, culturally informed, and targeted to the specific questions being asked.

Estimated time: 1 hour

A psychological testing session involves administering a series of standardized assessments tailored to your referral concerns. During the session, we guide you through tasks that may include cognitive measures, personality inventories, symptom checklists, structured interviews, or performance-based tests. We provide clear instructions, observe behavior and effort, and ensures standardized conditions to maintain validity. Test may be administered through paper and pencil tasks, computer operated tasks, or activities conducted with various tools such as blocks.

Estimated Time: Variable, typically 1-4 hours

The interpretation and report-writing process involves integrating test results with clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and relevant history to form a comprehensive understanding of the your functioning. We score and analyze each measure, compare results to normative data, identify patterns across tests, and evaluate how these findings relate to your needs. This information is then synthesized into a clear, coherent report that outlines strengths, challenges, diagnostic impressions, and practical, individualized recommendations to guide treatment or decision-making.

Estimated Time: This varies significantly based on what is being assessed. Typically reports are completed within two weeks of the  testing date.

A feedback session for a psychological assessment is a collaborative meeting where we review the evaluation results with you in a clear, supportive, and understandable way. We explain key findings, highlight strengths, discusses any diagnoses if appropriate, and connects results to your real-life experiences. The session also focuses on actionable recommendations, answering questions, and ensuring you feel informed and empowered. It serves as an opportunity to clarify next steps and help you use the assessment results to guide treatment, planning, or personal goals. This session is typically scheduled for a few weeks after the testing session.
